Body:
Tomcat front bonnet, truck cab with air scoop, and bulging sides. Aluminum flat panel rear fixed to 20mm box section. (Rear internal left open). Small ally arches inside rear wings. Front wings are flat ally panel bent over 50mm tubing for strong impact resistance.
Chassis:
100in wheel base with two front end range rover chassis turned back to back and welded. All brackets removed and middle cross members for weight saving. (This system allows for better travel compared with ride height).
In the cab:
Seats are Cobra aqua 4x4 with 3in 5 point TRS belts. Intercom by Terra trip, temp, oil, oil pressure, volts and amps gauges. Spaco steering wheel and boss (swade).
Engine and Transmission:
Front engine moved back approx 12in and fixed with captive mounts of very strong construction.. Isusu 2.8 Diesel approx 170bhp – 300lbs (full service history 89K) Turbo pressure set at 18psi with fuel mixture turned up. Does not black smoke excessive like other diesel racers. Massive inter cooler fill entire front land rover grill and approx 4in thick. Pipes to and from inter cool are 40mm to help maintain pressure through out rev range and reduce turbo lag. New alternator and starter. Red Top Battery.
V8 bell housing used to reduce overall length and to fit V8 race clutch from AP with skimmed fly wheel.
New LT77 gear box connected to a military 1.66 ratio transfer box also fixed with captive mounts. Front prop made of solid construction with extra strong and wide yolks. Rear prop range rover cut down.
Axles are Disco twos front and rear with a true trax limited slip diff in the rear.
Disco two radius arms, steering and steering box and column. Disco two axles are stronger and wider than 90’s, 110’s.

Cooling System:
Aluminum radiator in rear of racer for better protection, cooling and weight distribution.
All pipes are ally and silicone hoses used through out. Twin electric fans used with thermostatic switch from front of engine.
Electric water pump used for greater flow rate and increase power from engine. (Engine water pump impeller removed). Bluecol 50/50 mix used.
Fuel System:
Ally fuel tank at mid rear for protection and weight distribution approx. 10g. Electric fuel pump (fasat) used with braided hosed used to pre fitter then to rover 200 filter (very quick to change) and then to engine, return line none braided.
Exhaust:
Custom made with 2.5in bore passes 95dB test, with 91dB.
Brakes:
Disco two peddle box, new brake and clutch cylinders. Braided lines with clear protection cover. Vented front discs, solid rears. Plumbed with 60% front and 40% rear, very good braking system.
Suspension:
FOX 2.5 Pro coil overs with 305mm of travel front and rear. Front springs are two 300lbs per shock. Rear are one 300 and one 250lb spring per corner.
Therefore giving 150lbs of spring per front shock and 137.5lbs spring per rear shock.
Small intermediate springs are used to lower the ride height of the racer, which makes a massive difference. Value settings are 70% - 50% the same for each shock. This set up I found to be very good for my driving style. (The racer can be lowered by another 20mm if needed).
Oils:
All oils used are from Miller race oils.
Engine 15-40 semi synthetic diesel oil,
miller DX matic in gearbox, Fully synthetic.
TRX fully synthetic in transfer box.
DS-BM 80 fully synthetic in alxes.
NOTE:
The racer build cost was 15K 18mths ago. It has a log book (SORN at the moment) and no stolen parts have been used. Reliability has been excellent and the racer has been faster than other diesels in the AWDC 06 championship. Due to driver error and lack of experience the championship was lost and I finished third. (look at results and lap times on AWDC web page). This was also my first year in this motor sport racing.
The upgrading of power, either diesel or petrol can be made easily due to the specification stated above simply by changing the engine, the suspension and running gear is capable of large V8 outputs.
